Bangalore: Bangalore may be a hi-tech and hep city today. But most people don’t know it has lost 50% of its heritage buildings. A study done in the 1980s showed 800 heritage buildings in the city. Now, a survey by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) revealed more than 400 buildings have been lost due to various reasons.
To further the cause of saving heritage buildings, INTACH launched a calender based on such buildings and a website on Wednesday. Recent renovations made by INTACH are the birthplace of Gangubai Hangal in Dharwad and Mayo Hall.
