IT.biz to hit B’lore from November 6

BANGALORE: The who’s who in the world of IT will gather at Palace Grounds here, to participate in the annual three-day IT.biz that is to begin from November 6. “Over 60 companies have already confirmed their participation,” IT Principal Secretary Ashok Kumar Munoli said on Tuesday.

Considered one of the premier IT events in the country, the IT.biz would focus on recent advances in IT industry and the issues plaguing it - IT heat, semiconductor and ewaste and related problems.

There will also be an extensive discussion on the impact of the global meltdown on IT firms and corporate India’s preparedness to face it, he added. Among several new concepts, this year’s IT.biz would have a award presentation ceremony- an awards’ night - to honour IT industrialists with spectacular achievements. Besides those honoured by the STPI, the Government of India, would also be felicitated in the programme, he added.

Manoli said that a CEOs’ conclave had been organised in which CEOs of 85 MNCs will participate and deliberate on issues like green IT, solar BV, e-governance. “We hope that the conclave would provide some lead for the state’s proposed rural IT and semiconductor policies,” he added. Finals of the IT quiz competition, to be sponsored by TCS, will be held on November 7 at the same venue, he said.

Four new IT parks IT-BT Minister Katta Subarmanya Naidu said that the state government had decided to develop five IT parks at Bangalore, Shimoga, Hubli, Mangalore and Mysore at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore.

While, IT parks at Shimoga, Hubli, Mangalore and Mysore would be developed by the government itself, the Bangalore IT park to come-up near the International Airport would be developed by a private firm- Jain Heights — on Public Private Partnership model, he said.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa would lay the foundation for the IT park at Shimoga on November 1 and the work on remaining IT parks would start December 15, he said. Naidu said that work on these parks would be completed within 20 months.
