Here’s good news for Bengalureans on the look-out for a “safe” site at a reasonable price. The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved the formation of two new layouts by Bangalore Development Authority(BDA) in the city outskirts. They have been named Kempegowda Layout and Shivarama Karanth layout.

Briefing reporters about the Cabinet decisions, rural development and panchayat raj minister Shobha Karandlaje said 62,000 new sites would be formed in 4,800 acres around Kengeri in what would be known as Kempegowda Layout. This is expected to cost the government Rs 2,633 crores.

The Shivarama Karanth layout will be formed near Yelahanka and Yeshwanthpur. Around 3,000 sites will be formed in this layout.

“What is unique about these layouts is the fact that BDA is forming them with the cooperation of farmers. There will be no room for farmers to complain that they would lose their land and also their homes because of the layout formation,” the minister said. Twenty five per cent of the land will be utilised for the development of parks, play grounds and roads.
