Road rage of a different kind
DH News Service, Bangalore:
A traffic police constable on duty was assaulted by two businessmen near the Windsor Manor junction here on Saturday night.

The two — Abhishek and Jayadeep — were arrested by the High Grounds police and later released on bail. Meanwhile, constable Mahaswamy has been admitted to a private hospital. At around 10:30 pm on Saturday, a team of High Grounds police was patrolling the Sankey Road near the Windsor Junction. The team stopped a four-wheeler bearing number KA-05-N-8375 and found that the driver of the car was drunk.

Driver Vikram was booked for drunk-driving, after the breath test conducted by the police showed that he had consumed alcohol above permissible limits.

Case registered

Police sources said that according to the alcometer reading it was 222mg/100ml. Immediately, sub-inspector Jagadesh booked a case and served a notice to the driver. Vikram and his friends lost their cool and started to argue with the policemen. They even refused to produce the original documents. After some time, the police decided to wind up the matter and seized Vikram’s vehicle.

Meanwhile, Abhishek, Vikram and his friend started to hit constable Mahaswamy and even tore his uniform. When the public intervened, Abhishek took to his heels, jumped the divider and ran in the opposite direction. The High Grounds Police alerted the Hoysala squad and caught the culprits after a short chase.
