BANGALORE: The IT-BT cab drivers will be off the roads to protest against exploitation on July 21 and 22.
Karnataka Rajya Vahana Chalakara Kendra Sangha state president Nanjundaswamy told reporters here on Saturday that about 95,000 cab and ITBT vehicle drivers are being allegedly exploited by travel agents.
“We are being treated as bonded labourers. We are demanding that we be provided with all facilities as per the labour laws.” The Sangha has demanded proper remuneration, overtime payment for drivers who work day and night and provision for rest and food.
Other demands include regularisation of drivers in government offices, accident insurance up to Rs 10 lakh, stopping police harassment and setting up of a separate cell for investigating these cases.
