Rain paralyses City

Traffic chaos prevailed near the Ring Road junction near Mysore Road as there was six feet of rainwater logging after it rained late in the evening.


The traffic jam continued for several hours on Sunday evening.
Chaotic conditions also prevailed in other parts of the City due to water logging bringing the busy Bangalore traffic to a grinding halt. Traffic was thrown out of gear and more than a dozen minor accidents were reported.

Several two wheeler riders were struck below bridges and under passes, while many rushed to shelter under buildings to escape the rain fury. Traffic moved at a snail’s pace at Jayanagar, Seshadripuram and Places around Majestic.

According to the met department, the City received 0.9 mm of rainfall at around 8.30 pm, but said that more rainfall is expected during the night.

Water gushed into several low lying areas like ward No 82, near CMH road, parts of Hebbal. Two tree was uprooted at KG Halli and Basaveshwara Junction. Two houses collapsed one on Mysore road and another at Nandini layout. No casualties were reported.
