Even after five months of unhindered work, the CBI junction “magic box” is incomplete.

The BBMP officials blame the monsoon for it! The ongoing work at the CBI junction seems to be never ending, irking regular commuters who use the Mekri Circle-CBI Junction which is invariably clogged by traffic.

Traffic flow has drastically increased since the Bangalore International Airport (BIA) became operational. Almost 10,000 vehicles pass through this area en route to the airport daily.

The BBMP had said that the underpass work would be complete before BIA became functional. Work on the magic box had started in March. Later, the deadline was extended to May. Now, it has been advanced. The project is to be completed by August.

“We are on the verge of finishing the underpass project (costing Rs 3.5 crore). We are hopeful that it will be complete by August, if the rain does not disrupt work. Until then public should bear with the inconvenience,” said the BBMP chief engineer, Krishna Reddy. “Once the magic box is done, the woes of commuters will be reduced,” he added.
