Advocates’ group says no to parking complex

Bangalore: A group of high court advocates has opposed the proposal to construct an underground parking complex on the high court premises. The group led by senior advocates M G Kumar and Amruthesh S N, said if any development is undertaken in the Cubbon Park area, it will affect the ecology and environment of the pristine lung space.
“There are several judgments and government orders staying any development in Cubbon Park area. Now, the Chief Justice has given a green signal for the project, in violation of land use and against all restrictions. If this happens, it will set a wrong precedent as several clubs near the park have sought land to expand the park,’’ M G Kumar said.
The group, instead, called for stricter regulation. “People use the HC premises for parking. Provide stickers to all advocates and restrict use of space. It will also help as a security measure,’’ Kumar said. TNN
