Festival rush hits traffic in Majestic
Bangalore, DHNS:
Traffic moved at a snail's pace for four hours on Kempe Gowda Road, Nrupathunga Road and Seshadri Road as thousands of people tried to reach bus stand and railway station on Friday night.

For nearly four hours, traffic moved at a snail’s pace on Kempe Gowda Road, Nrupathunga Road and Seshadri Road as thousands of people tried to reach bus stand and railway station on Friday night. Evening rain also added to the peoples’ misery planning to stick to their travel plans for Dasara festivities.

The traffic police had a tough time in handling the festival rush. Pedestrians were struggling to cross roads and one of them even got into an argument with the traffic constable at a signal.

Autorickshaws were in great demand and taking advantage of the situation, the drivers were demanding double the meter charge, while many voluntarily paid more to reach the station.

However many of the people decided to walk from Mysore Circle after seeing a heavy pile up of vehicles. “ I have booked my ticket to Bijapur and am not sure whether I will catch my bus if I depend on BMTC bus”, said Prasad, a teacher in a private school in Bangalore.

The Kempe Gowda bus stand was chock-a-block as over 500 additional buses were being operated to meet the festival rush. All the buses were crowded. The scene was no different in Bangalore City Railway station.
