I-Day flower show begins

For most visitors the sheer colour and variety of the flowers was nothing short of a visual treat.

Taj Mahal made of red and white roses was the star attraction of the Independence Day Flower show, which was inaugurated on Wednesday at Lalbagh. The visitors, especially couples were seen striking a romantic pose for a photograph in front of the Taj.

Rahul Kaushik, a BBM student said the Taj Mahal made of roses was most impressive, while Soumya software engineer said this flower show was the best ever.

Visitors were making a beeline to the many nurseries who were selling colourful plants, medicinal ones, fruit and vegetable saplings and even Bonsai and Feng Shui plants.

There were numerous stalls selling world flower stamps, herbal medicinal products, gardening equipment, seeds etc.

The National Horticulture Mission stall had information on vegetable development programme and organic farming to post harvest management.

To mark the birth anniversary of Dr M H Marigowda, called the ‘father of horticulture’ National Horticulture Day was celebrated on Wednesday.

The Foundation Day Symposium organised by the Department and Dr M H Marigowda Foundation.
