Celebrating Taj Mahals entry into the seven wonders of the world recently, a 15 feet X 18 feet model of the Taj Mahal made of 26,000 red roses will be on display at the Independence Day Flower show.

Celebrating Taj Mahal’s entry into the seven wonders of the world recently, a 15 feet X 18 feet model of the Taj Mahal made of 26,000 red roses will be on display at the Independence Day Flower show, announced the Additional Director of Horticulture, Dr K Ramakrishnappa at a press meet on Monday.

The model will be sponsored by Radio Mirchi and Kasturi Floritech (a rose cultivation company.

The 114th flower show is being orgnaised at a cost of Rs 32 lakhs, by the Horticulture Department and the Mysore Horticulture Society. A stall to popularise the National Horticulture Mission, which is also the theme of the event, will be a part of the show. The mission is the overall development of horticulture from increasing production of horticultural crops to post harvest handling and marketing, he said.

Competitions will be held in Ike-Bana, Indian Floral Art, vegetable carving, Dutch Flower arrangements, Thai-Art, dry flower arrangements, Jannur, Belgium arrangements and Bonsai on August 9 for the public. A special rolling shield will be given to the winners of the garden competition. Janapada Haadu and Geetha Nrithya organised along with the Kannada and Culture Department will also be a part of the flower show.
