BANGALORE: Traffic many busy roads in the city was affected on Saturday as Kannada activities took out a procession from Gandhi Nagar to Raj Bhavan via busy M G Road.

A large number of people were put to inconvenience and police had a tough time clearing the traffic snarls on many roads.

On M G Road, Cubbon Road, Queen’s Road, J C Nagar Road, Raj Bhavan Road and on many other roads vehicles were seen moving slowly, bumperto- bumper.

Motorists were complaining about the protest and the traffic problem, which they said, spoiled their weekend.

In the afternoon, many people returning from their offices were caught in the traffic jams. The problem continued from around 10 am to 4 pm.

Police said though the procession by the members of Kannada Rakshana Vedike was confined to M G Road till Raj Bhavan, it had an impact on many other roads, including Hosur Road, Bannerghatta Road, Rajkumar Road, near Subramanyanagar Junction.

‘‘Normally, when there is problem on some busy roads, it will have an impact on all roads in the surrounding areas,’’ said a police official.

The Vedike members were protesting against the multinational companies, which they alleged were not employing Kannadigas.

They submitted a memorandum to the Governor T N Chaturvedi.
