Shangri-La to check into Bangalore

THE influx of global hotel chains in Bangalore is gaining momentum. After the entry of Ritz Carlton, JW Mariott and Starwood Hotels, which are under the different stages of development, now it is the turn of Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. Shangri-La is launching its first business hotel brand, Traders Hotel, in Bangalore. As the name suggest, Traders Hotel is the value offering of the hospitality major targetted largely at business traveller.
Traders hotel will open in late 2008 with 316 rooms, near the International Tech Park situated at Whitefield. Apart from the four-star business hotel, the Asia-based luxury hotel group will operate two five-star hotels. The group has entered into a management contract deal with Bangalore-based Adarsh Developers. Adarsh Developers plans to invest close to Rs 1, 100 crore on the three properties. Shangri-La will have an inventory of around 700 rooms in the city, including 300 units of service apartments, which will be a part of one of the five-star hotels.
