In order to upgrade the Bangalore Railway Station to the international standards, the South Western Railway (SWR) is installing elevators connecting subway to the platforms.

The SWR Divisional Railway Manager Mahesh Mangal said, altogether five lifts will be installed.

They would be heavy duty as each lift can carry more than 12 persons. Even the electric cart for the handicapped and senior citizens can also enter inside the lift, said Mangal. The lifts, at Platform-1 and Platform-2, are likely to be installed by mid September. The remaining three lifts will be installed by March next year, he said.

Mangal added that the SWR is upgrading the facilities at all the platforms under its jurisdiction.
“Even Yeswanthpur Railway station, Yelahanka and Kengeri Railway stations will receive facelift,” said the DRM.
