Bangalore: Guess what BBMP’s latest diversification plan is? Well, it is all about running a multiplex! chief minister H D Kumaraswamy told the legislative assembly on Tuesday that a multiplex would be constructed at the closed Puttanna Theatre in Jayanagar Shopping Complex area. Of course, an auditorium will be earmarked for Kannada films. Tenders will be called shortly for executing the multiplex project, he said.
Puttanna theatre was closed on May 11, 2004, after the BBMP decided to take up renovation work. Tenders were called and two bidders were shortlisted. However, the entire process was shelved after the BBMP realised that the bids were financially not viable. In order to attract more bidders, the BBMP has now hit upon the multiplex idea.
