Jairaj reviews road works

BBMP Commissioner K Jairaj on Wednesday reviewed the road works taken up by the Palike under Karnataka Municipal Reform Project (KMRP).

The BBMP has taken up development of 40 major roads constituting a total length of 130 km at a cost of Rs 148.50 crore. These roads include Diwan Madhavrao Road, Bannerghatta Main Road, Banashankari Road, BTM Ring Road, Koramangala 80-Feet Road, Richmond Road, Residency Road and Kasturba Road.

After the inspection, Mr Jairaj directed officers to ensure works are completed before June 26. Later, he told reporters 10 roads would be ready in the next few days.

Mr Jairaj also found some construction debris dumped on Divan Madhavarao Park Road and directed officers to penalise the owner with a fine of Rs 5 lakh.

He also asked them to collect Rs 1 lakh as penalty from owner of the building who had dumped debris on the footpath.
