Pedestrians get a raw deal

Pedestrians get a
raw deal

A flyover with free left and right turns has made life easy for motorists on Airport Road. But what about the pedestrians? They also use the flyover because there is no other way to cross over to the other side. Strange but true. Pedestrians walk across the main Indiranagar flyover and its four supporting loops connecting Airport Road to Indiranagar and Koramangala. For, the road has become pedestrian-unfriendly with no pavements at all. People walk on the extreme side of the flyover or on the road divider, which is extremely dangerous. No doubt, BDA’s flyover is an engineering marvel but no thought has been given to pedestrians. BDA commissioner Shankarlinge Gowda said, “We’ll provide for people to cross over. The debris will be cleared and then they can cross over from below. We will do it.’’
