2 more underpasses to ease city traffic

Bangalore: Underpasses, not flyovers, can free the city of traffic congestion, said chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday after launching the grade separator works at Basavanagudi.
With this, two more underpasses will help the city tackle the traffic bottlenecks at R V Teachers’ College junction and Tagore Circle.
The CM also hoped to see the deadline, for completion of the underpasses, advanced from 16 months to 10 months. “The government officials should give top priority to their duty, while the elected representatives should not yield to pressure. A fallout of such indulgences is for all to see in the form of encroachment,” he added.
Leader of opposition N Dharam Singh urged the CM to bring all public service agencies under a common metropolitan authority for better coordination.
