Extra cover for City

Twelve thousand policemen will be deployed in various parts of the City as a precautionary measure on the first death anniversary of Kannada matinee idol Rajkumar, on April 12.

About 35 CAR platoons, 35 KSRP platoons and two RAF companies will be guarding the City. Besides, police will be deployed at various sensitive areas. Top police officers met on Tuesday in this connection.

A senior officer said: “This time, we’re not going to rope in additional forces from neighbouring states. We are confident we can handle any crisis with the available resources. For the last 10 days, we have been working on various aspects of security and based on intelligence reports, ‘meticulous’ deployment will be made.”

The Rajkumar samadhi at Kanteerava Studio, the actor’s Sadashivanagar residence and various programmes - mass feeding, health check-up and blood donation camps - will be provided with extra security cover.

Security will be stepped up at sensitive and hypersensitive areas. Police patrolling will be increased. “More than 100 video cameras have been hired for the purpose.”

So far, no arrests have been made, but the respective police stations has been directed to keep tabs on rowdy-sheeters. “As a precautionary measure, we may take some anti-social elements into custody,” he added.
