BBMP’s automatic car parking soon

BBMP’s automatic car parking soon
The Times of India

Bangalore: The BBMP has readied a blueprint for Bangalore’s first automatic car parking system. The first of its kind in South India, the parking system will be built in Gandhinagar.
Tenders have been invited to build this car park and it will be completed within a year. The parking fee is pegged at Rs 10 per car.
Such a system can analyse the slots available for cars. Cars will be lifted by a special lift, which will then place the vehicles in the slots in about two-and-ahalf minutes.
Since no one is allowed to enter the parking lot, the threat of theft is minimised.
Such lots are in various stages of construction in other metros like Mumbai and Kolkata, and nearly completed in Pune. This technology is already in use in Europe since the 1950s. Japan, US, China and Singapore also have such car parks.

The demand for parking space has, on an average in the main markets of Delhi, outstripped demand by 43%. It is not just the two biggest cities in India that are facing the space crunch. Parking space is fast becoming a major issue in other cities like Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Pune and many other urban and semi-urban cities across the country.
It is estimated that an automatic parking system requires a little less than half as much space as a manual parking for every car parking slot. Add to that the advantage of larger number of floors in a given height restriction and you can park nearly 3-4 times as many cars in the same amount of space using Automatic parking systems.
Automatic multi-level parking systems are not only the ultimate solution to parking space scarcity; they also increase safety for your car as well as you. These systems are the ultimate in customer-convenience, not to mention the fuel and time savings from not having to drive around looking for a parking spot and sometimes driving out without finding one. This is the future of parking in India.
Palis Technologies GmbH, a German company, has the best technology for Automatic Multi-level Parking Systems and Anchit Consulting Group www.anchitgroup.com is representing them in India.

The solution is there. Parking could become a pleasurable experience. The challenge is for the authorities to realize the need and move quickly.
