BANGALORE: Bangaloreans can expect a respite from the heat in the next few days.

Southern parts of Karnataka are likely to receive mango showers within a week.

This comes as good news to the residents as the city is witnessing hot and sweltering weather this summer. According to weather experts, rain is expected in Southern parts of Karnataka in the next few days. Moreover, there will be good pre-monsoon rains or mango shower.

The pre-monsoon showers are received between March and May.

M B Rajegowda, professor of Agro-Meteorology, University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), says, ‘‘The increasing trend in temperature should continue, leading to decrease in pressure and convectional rainfall. The temperature might build up to 36.5 to 36.8 degrees. Once it rains, the temperature may drop to 32-33 degree, bringing a cooling effect.’’

This 2007, the rise in temperature is due to last year’s deficit rainfall of nearly 20-23 percent.

‘‘This summer, the continuous rise in temperature is due to a combination of severe summer, accumulation of atmospheric pollutants and long time gap in heavy rainfall,’’ he added.
