Has Mono Rail been derailed?

Has Mono Rail been derailed?
The Times of India

Bangalore: Does anybody remember Mono Rail? The same that was supposed to chug off paper, circa August 15, 2006? The train for which JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda was batting for?
After a contentious battle on Metro Rail versus Mono Rail, chief minister H D Kumaraswamy had announced that work on Mono Rail would also begin, again during August 2006 itself. This was seen as a balancing act to placate Gowda,
But now months later, Kumaraswamy feels Mono Rail may not take off. He told The Times of India: “It has become a controversial issue. There is a lot of difference of opinion on Mono Rail. We are facing many logistical hitches in implementing this technology. It may not be a possibility for some more years now. The initial thinking was that Mono Rail was essential for the success of Metro Rail but officials have come up with a network of grids and buses that will complement Metro Rail.’’
Does this spell a finito for Mono Rail then? “Work on Metro Rail is progressing well, so there is no need to worry about Mono Rail,’’ says Kumaraswamy.
Government sources say not a single file has moved, no tenders have been called, and it was presumed that Mono Rail was history.
DOWN THE TRACKS
2004 sees a company Metrail Consortium make a series of presentations to the government, industrialists, IT sector on the necessity of Mono Rail.
2005 sees a bitter battle with factions from Metro Rail and Mono Rail pushing their case.
2006 sees the two groups making peace — Metro and Mono complement each other.
Work on Metro is in full swing, while Mono Rail is grounded.
