BANGALORE,DHNS:The transformation from a slogan to a cleanliness drive - ‘Clean Bangalore,Beautiful Bangalore’will take offon January 15, with BMP Commissioner K Jairaj ordering implementation of the new healthtender.

While, the 100 wards will bereorganised into 210 healthwards, as many as 10,000 oddpourakarmikas will execute 30packages,apart from three other packages- compacter, night andmechanical sweeping. The newhealth tender is an integrated approach to management of solidwaste. “The compacters condense garbage for its easy transport, while the huge manpoweris responsible for cleaning thepublic toilets with disinfectants,providing adequate water supply,cleaning the footpaths,BMPowned buildings, open groundsapart from removal of posters and banners and clearing animalcarcasses,”said BMP officials.

“We need better citizen participation to ensure that theirneighbourhood is kept clean andthe contractors are held accountable. The duty charts will bemaintained to monitor everypourkarmika. Stricter penaltyclause has been included in caseof persons or private partiesfound littering the city,” theyadded.
