Good news for users of HSR-Sarjapur Road near Agara and Magadi Road-Outer Ring Road junction. The BDA, in association with the BMTC, plans to build two grade separators on these busy roads.

BDA commissioner M K Shankarlingegowda told VVi ij ja ayy T Ti imme ess these separators are being built as part of Bus Rapid Transportation (BRT). They will ensure free movement of mass rapid transportation systems and other vehicles.

The grade separator on Magadi Road-ORR junction will be built at a cost of Rs 30 crore, while the HSRSarjapur Road grade separator will be built at a cost of Rs 20 crore, he said. Detailed project reports have been prepared and sent to Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) for approval.

"Once the Magadi Road-ORR junction grade separator is in place, access to Visvesvaraya Layout and towards Magadi will be easy. Vehicles on both the ORR and Magadi Road can then move non-stop," he said.As the ORR has six lanes, the grade separator too will have as many lanes. While the Magadi Road has four lanes, the separator too will have four lanes. The project would be completed in 18 months from the date of commencement. Preliminary sketches have been prepared and sent to the Centre for approval. The projects will utilise funds from the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

"The BDA has no dearth of funds. The Centre will provide 50 per cent of funds, the State government 15 per cent and BDA 35 per cent.

The BDA is capable of raising 50 per cent of funds for implementation of the project," he added.
