BANGALORE: The garbage dump in and around Sandeepani Niketan School in Sanjaynagar creates big nuisance to the residents and the school students. The vast ground is covered with city waste and slush and emanates foul smell constantly, making it difficult for people to walk across the area.

The Residents’ Welfare Association of Sanjaynagar had taken up the matter with the BMP Health Officers, who, however, did not respond to the pleas.

Residents complain that cows and buffaloes are tethered in the vacant space. The place has also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, which create health hazards.

President of the Residents’ Welfare Association V Sathyamurthy said in a release that the other problem is that the door-to-door collection of garbage is very irregular. “They do not follow any timings for collection of garbage and are absent on many days of the week,” he added.

The members of the association and others, too, residing in the area have harrowing times because of the foul stench emanating from this area. This distress is further aggravated by the mosquito menace.

In a letter to the BMP Health Officer, the association have requested that the area be cleaned. But, BMP has not taken any action.
