Bangalore Urban District in-charge Minister R Ashok on Tuesday said that the nitty-gritty on Greater Bangalore will be worked out latest by March end.
There will be no postponement of elections to the Greater Bangalore Municipal Body (GBMB) that has been envisaged, he added.
He also noted that the State government will be replying to Governor T N Chaturvedi’s queries, but may not wait until the next Legislature session before issuing the final notification on Greater Bangalore.
The governor had recently sent back the ordinance on Greater Bangalore noting that the government has sufficient time to discuss the same in the legislature and also questioned the basis on which the number of wards in Greater Bangalore was sought to be pegged at around 150.
Mr Ashok said that among the public responses received to the draft notification on Greater Bangalore, is also the demand for the inclusion of some seven villages in addition to the 111 villages already identified. The seven villages are located in the Varthur area, he said but noted that the government is unlikely to consider the demand.
Mr Ashok who was speaking to reporters after participating in a city infrastructure review meeting, chaired by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, informed that individual blueprints on a host of civic services and facilities with respect to Greater Bangalore are being readied. Among them are those related to water supply, sewage treatment plants, lakes and other water bodies, parks, playgrounds etc.
On the question of the bill on regularisation of building bylaw violations that was tabled during the Belgaum Session, Mr Ashok said that the bill was before the Governor.
The latter had sought some clarifications - how the regularisation will help the poor and such, he said and added that the government will be submitting its response soon.
