Sun Network launches FM channel with a contest for listeners
# Every day 70 persons will be given gold coins as prizes
# There are separate contests for different groups
BANGALORE: After going through the daily ordeal of bad roads and the resultant traffic jams in the city, harried Bangaloreans hardly have any time for entertainment. Probably that is why radio has again become a popular medium.
Radio listening has come a full circle, especially after the advent of several FM channels and their increasing popularity. Stiff competition among various FM channels resulted in attractive contests for listeners.
In the recent past we have seen a private FM channel busy getting celebrities from other towns participate in its programmes and give listeners something different.
Winners of a contest based on a Kannada film got to pose with the cast of the movie for photographs. Plus getting free tickets to the film.
The latest is a unique "hunt for gold" contest being currently aired by the recently launched 93.5 SFM channel for its listeners.
To mark Suvarna Karnataka celebrations, Sun Network launched an "all-Kannada" FM channel under the brand caption 93.5 SFM "Mast Maja Madi" on Sunday.
"If you missed the recent popular `Hunt for Gold' contests on private Kannada television channels, don't be disheartened. Here is another chance for you to win gold coins in a similar kind of contest," seems to be the theme behind this contest.
Categorised under four segments, this contest has exclusive timings for people of various age groups and the first 15 or 20 callers who give correct answers will walk away with gold coins.
As many as 70 persons will be gifted gold coins every day during the contest, which is on for a week, said a spokesperson of Sun Network.
Contest for women
While women can call between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., men can participate between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Similarly children can call between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. and youth can participate between 9 a.m. and noon.
