BANGALORE: The arrival of cine star Ambareesh to the City, after he was inducted into the Union Ministry, sent everyone in a tizzy, as the massive procession which began right from the airport arrival lounge, disrupted traffic movement for more than three hours. Consequently, most commuters took two hours to reach the airport.

The airport security officials and city police found it very difficult to control the restless fans and travellers at the same time. People who had come to receive their beloved ones, found it difficult to enter as the Airport terminal was packed with artistes and fans of the star leaving no parking space for the passengers.

Though the passengers arrived over an hour ahead of schedule, they were still victims of the VIP security tantrums. There was no seating arrangements made for them, forcing them to stand outside and wait for their boarding call.

“The waiting lounge in the airport was kept vacant, due to security reasons,” said an airport security official. The flights flying to and from Delhi were delayed by half an hour. The reason: Air Traffic Control and bad weather. “The airport officials have not informed us or taken care of our basic needs. It is very difficult to sit outside and wait,” said Charles, a senior citizen flying to New Delhi.

All the parking space was occupied by the chelas and karyakartas of the politicians. A large area was also used by the fans, who had gathered in a large number to see their icon.

“Keeping in mind the traffic congestion which occurs during the VIP arrivals, we left home early, but the situation on M G Road and at the Airport was in a very bad state. The traffic situation and the arrangements made by the security guards is chaotic,” said Samik Sen Gupta, who was flying to Hyderabad.

“There is no adequate parking space available, and the Airport Road terminal has been made one-way. The performance of the artistes to entertain the VIPs is causing a lot of problems,” said a commoner, who was there to receive his family members.

Aislin G, a tourist from Ireland wondered why such a large number of people had gathered at the airport, causing commotion.
