Book lovers in for a treat in Nov.
The Times of India

Bangalore: If Oktoberfest is for beer guzzlers, November is for bookworms. The Bangalore Book Festival is set to take the city by storm from November 10 to 19 at Palace Grounds.
With around 200 publishers from across the country coming together to put up over 300 stalls offering more than a million books, this festival is set to be bigger and better than it has been in the past four years. And bibliophiles have more than just that reason to be happy. For one, there will be a flat discount rate on all books at the fair as well as further subsidies on books in regional languages. Plus, reading booths for both books as well as digital publications. Add to that, a display that promises to include rare books from abroad.
“Our focus this year is children and students since that is the age group that reads far lesser than the previous gernation,” said Bangalore Book Sellers and Publishers Association president Balram Sadhwani. So children can look forward to a variety of both fiction and non-fiction books on subjects that range from animation to aerospace.
On November 12, there will be a librarians meet where librarians will discuss issues they face and the latest technological advancements to manage books better. Every evening will see eminent guest lectures.
Cultural programmes will also be put up by students. There will also be a food festival at the venue offering various Indian as well as international cuisine.
One can expect celebrities and well-known authors expected to attend the festival. “Besides it’s a great platform for budding authors to meet publishers,” said Sadhwani.
