BANGALORE: Conceding to the Kannada film industry’s demand, the Karnataka government on Saturday decided to book culprits involved in video piracy under the goonda act.

“The measure would also help curb production of pornographic films and help the kannada film industry,” Minister for primary and secondary education Basavaraj Horatti told reporters here after a cabinet meeting.

The Karnataka film chambers of commerce have been pleading with the government to take stern action to deal with those engaged in video piracy in the wake of the industry facing problems and financial losses.
