The State government has taken complete responsibility of building a memorial at the burial site of Rajkumar, said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday. Recently, the Rajkumar’s family had complained that the State government was not showing interest in developing the burial site despite initial plans.

They had even threatened to go ahead with efforts from their side on the construction as nearly six months have passed since his death on April 12. The Chief Minister along with his wife Anita Kumaraswamy visited the actor’s residence at Sadashivangar on Sunday, maintaining it as a courtesy call.

He discussed the possible plans for the construction at the Kanteerava complex with Rajkumar’s wife Parvathamma Rajkumar and sons Raghavendra and Puneet Rajkumar.

Speaking to the media outside the Raj residence, Mr Kumaraswamy said, “the family has given the government complete responsibility to build an everlasting memorial at the the burial site. We will make it a tourism place.” The chief minister added that of late due to his hectic work schedule he was unable to visit Rajkumar’s family.

Mr Kumaraswamy said there were various sections that had claimed to do work at the site. “I had just given time to these people to prove that theirs was baseless talk. Now, the government will go ahead with its plans.”
