Traders threaten to go on strike

Traders and residents of CMH Road will stage an indefinite relay hunger starting Monday, demanding re-alignment of the Metro rail route from CMH Road and 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar, to Old Madras Road.

“The Chief Minister has betrayed us. He never turned up for a spot inspection as promised. The Justice Shivashankar Bhat report has given its verdict in favour of BMRC. And we believe that the Committee was grossly mislead by the BMRC officials. We will challenge the order,” said Imtiaz Ahmed, a member of the CMH Road Residents and Shops and Establishments’ Association.

The Committee has to take into consideration the number of vehicles plying on both CMH Road and Old Madras Road and the actual number of acquisitions necessary for the project. Old Madras Road is a better option since it will save the government a lot of money,” contended Ahmed, insisting that the Committee has to conduct an independent assessment of the situation.
