Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that the State government would give priority to both metro and mono rails, on Friday.

“Mono rail will be the feeder system for the metro. Work is progressing in this regard, and global tenders will be called for soon,” he said. The mono rail project is presently being handled by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation. Four corridors have been proposed, based on an interim traffic report prepared by RITES.

The routes are Kanakapura-Mysore link with a ‘T’ connection from Kanakapura to National College; Mysore Road-Tumkur Road link with a ‘T’ connection from Magadi Road to Toll Gate; Bannerghatta Road-Audugodi link and Bellary Road-Tumkur Road connection. The total area to be covered by the mono rail network is about 52 km.

Immediate task on BMRC’s hand:

n Survey of utilities to begin on CMH Road, 100 Feet Road and MKK Road on August 5

n Meeting with Japan Bank of International Co-operation New Delhi on August 8 to finalise general consultants

n Viaduct design contractors short-listed, work orders to be given

n Formation of valuation committee to assist in finalisation of compensation

n Hearing of objections from 1,400 property owners to begin

n Discussions to be held with affected residents and traders shortly

n Formation of Grievance Redressal Cell soon
