Bangalore: Traffic crawled on the arterial roads when the city recorded 10.8 mm rain on Saturday. With many traffic signals not functioning, the rain made weekend traffic more chaotic.

The city was engulfed by dark clouds late in the afternoon and according to Met department monsoon that set on May 27 has made the weather pleasant.

Weathermen have not ruled out chances of continuing rainfall for another 24 hours. Monsoon rain averages up to 80.8 mm in June. Records show that the city receives at least 119.6 mm rain in May, 110.2 mm in July, 137.0 mm in August, 194.8 mm in September and 180.4 mm rain in October.

Minutes after the rain, signals in different areas were not functioning. What made it worse was water-logging. Even some arterial roads had ankle deep water.

Areas affected included Rajarajeswarinagar, Mysore Road, Banashankari, CKC Garden, Basavanagudi and Hanumanthnagar.
