‘Things will fall into place’

“Mushrooming construction activities on revenue lands without professional approach, vision and planning has virtually stranded the growth and development works in Bangalore City,” said Chief Minister Kumaraswamy.

Speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed Banasawadi Police Station building on Sunday, Mr Kumaraswamy said: “We are just three months old and need some time to convert our dreams into reality. I’ve started discussing with the officers and taken them into confidence.

Now, it’s a matter of time. Once we line up our finances then, things are bound to fall into place.”

The state-of-the-art police station is situated on 5th Main, 2nd ‘B’ Cross, 2nd Block, HRBR Layout, Kalyannagar.

More personnel

The Chief Minister assured that both technical and man-power assistance will be provided to strengthen the department.

Elaborating on this, he said, around 2,000 police personnel will be recruited in due course and mobile police patrolling (Hoysala) will be further strengthened by adding more vehicles.

Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh requested the Chief Minister to recruit more police personnel as the present strength is inadequate when compared to the population and geography of the City.

Utilising the opportunity, Corporator Padmanabha Reddy promised a stadium and a park, if government permits to convert the Kacharakana Village Tank. He also added, if a site is provided, we will generate funds to construct a traffic police station too.

TAKEN ABACK

Out of the blue, a middle-aged lady walked towards the dais shouting, “All politicians and police are criminals”. Immediately, policemen tried to whisk her away from the scene.

Then she vented out her anguish saying, “These corporators and policemen harass me, they don’t have a heart and do not know how to treat women, particularly someone who lives alone.”

Later, Deccan Herald found out that the woman, a resident of Lingarajpuram under Banaswadi police jurisdiction, lives alone and manages a gift centre. “I’ve been humiliated and justice is denied. These corporators are troubling me and don’t allow me to live peacefully,” she said, without divulging details.
