CHIEF Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday directed civic agencies such as the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), and the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) to hold a meeting within the next 10 to 15 days to discuss the status of ongoing development projects in the City.

Speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed casualty block at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, he said that there was a need for these agencies to get together, prioritise projects and work on them.

"Only then will the projects be successfully completed on time," he added.

"The civic authorities should carry on with their work irrespective of which government is in power. Political changes should not affect your work. Do your job and do not waste time worrying over political happenings," he advised the officials. ‘Speed up works’ While commenting on the status of infrastructure developments in the state, he pointed out that projects taken up many years ago were still at the discussion stage.

There had been no efforts to speed up the projects, he claimed and substantiated his point by referring to the BMIC project, which was started about 10 years back.

Citing Dubai as an example of a City that had good infrastructure, he said,"The City has changed so much that people visiting Dubai for a second time after two years are shocked." "Our leaders go on visits to places abroad every now and then. But they fail to concentrate on the technologies," he lamented.

"As promised by me at the time of taking charge, my government is working for the development of the poor people, especially those from the BPL families," the Chief Minister recalled. Trauma centres for accident emergencies Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Health and Family Welfare R Ashok said the government would very soon set up about 275 trauma centres across the state to handle road accident emergencies.

"There are very few casualty centres in the State and during emergencies, especially during accident cases, it takes a long time to shift patients to hospitals. To provide the treatment to these patients within 24 hours, we will set up these centres very soon," he said.

"We will ensure that all medicines are available in all hospitals across the state round-the-clock. This has been possible because of the allotment of Rs 20 crore for the provision of medicines in this Budget," he added. Townships across State Minister for Small Scale Industries and Sericulture Katta Subramanya Naidu said the government was making all out efforts to improve the infrastructure facilities.

"In order to promote small scale industries, we are coming up with Integrated Industrial Townships across the State. Already, three places have been identified and works on the same have also started," he added.
