BANGALORE: Bangaloreans will witness a first-of-its-kind reforestation drive soon. Alt Tech Foundation will organise what it calls the SeedBall Revolution, where it plans to scatter 5 million seedballs before July.

To celebrate the 50,000-seedball benchmark, BCIL-Alt Tech Foundation in partnership with Radio City FM 91 has organised an event at Bal Bhavan, Cubbon Park, on June 10.

The seedballs cost Re 1 and you can collect a seedball kit from the foundation. The kit contains a mixture of clay, vegetable dye and compost. The kit has carefully selected seeds of species that are indigenous to the Bangalore eco-region.

Described as the largest participatory tree-planting drive, it will see involvement of citizens, groups and companies. Corporate bodies like HDFC, schools, orphanages, autorikshaw unions, and Rajkumar fans associations are already a part of the movement.

This seedball programme plans to scatter five million seedballs before the rains in areas that desperately need some green cover in and around Bangalore.
