BMRDA township work begins
The State Government's Rs 2650-crore project is on track with the initial survey work being completed

The biggest project announced so far by the State Government to be implemented by the Bangalore Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (BMRDA)

that envisages five satellite towns, a ring road and an intermediate ring road has gained further momentum with the authority completing the initial survey work.
Says a senior officer with the authority, "we have completed the first survey and have identified the areas and villages that fall in the purview of the project.

We have also arrived at the total number of acres required for the townships as well for ring road and intermediate ring road. Put together we would requiring

71,446 acres and according to our schedule the project will be completed in about three years with Bidadi being the first township to be developed since it has

adequate drinking water supply".
Satellite Towns Ring
Road
This ring road will be of 284 km connecting Dobbspet, Magadi, Ramanagara, Kanakapura, Anekal, Hoskote, Devanahalli and Doddaballapur along with the

townships. The road here is planned in accordance with the norms laid by the Indian Road Congress (IRC) that will be of eight-lanes with two service roads of

two-lane. While the estimated cost of laying road and other infrastructure here is Rs 1,150 crores the extent of land required stands at 6,303 acres. The

government has to acquire 4,153 acres at a cost of Rs 160 crores.
Intermediate Ring Road
The intermediate ring road involves a total of 188 km, eight-lane road with again two service roads. The estimated cost of putting up this road is slated as Rs

750 crores with the land requirement of 4,182 acres with 2,053 acres to be acquired at a cost of Rs 100 crores.
Bidadi Township
This is the first township planned to be completed by the authority. Bidadi is at a distance of 30 km from the city centre. The Bidadi Township will cover eight

villages including Byramangala, Banngiri, Hosur, KG Gollarapalya, Kanchugaranahalli, Aralasandra and Kempaiahanapalya and Kavalu Hinduvalli. It is estimated that

the township will require 6,959 acres of which 2,725 acres already with the government, as it owns it. The estimated cost of the township is Rs 3,500 crores.
Ramanagaram Township
Estimated at a cost of Rs 1,500 crores, the Ramanagaram Township would be spread across eight villages with land requirement of 4,031 acres. Here the

government owns only 392 acres and the rest have to be acquired from private owners. The villages involved for the project include Mayaganahally,

Kempanahally, Kenjigarahalli, Madapura, Ketyhohalli, Basavanapura, Balaguli and K G Gollarapalya. The township will be located 35 km from the city.
Sathnur Township
This township is situated in Kanakapura taluk is 72 km from the city centre and covers 12 villages namely, Sathnur, Dolimba, Kachuvanahalli Hosahalli, Kabbalu,

Kamsagara, Aluru, Thiluru Forest, Maradevanahalli, Halasinamaradahalli, Naripura and Anagamanhalli. While the cost of the township is slated to be Rs 6,000 crores,

the land requirement stands at 16,232 acres. The available land with the government is 10,341 acres and rest needs to be acquired.
Solur Township
Located in Magadi Taluk, this township is situated along the Bangalore-Mangalore Highway is at a distance of 40 km from the city. The township covers 20

villages including, Lakkenahalli, Beeravara, Koramangala, Parvathanapalya, Kannasandra, Hosahalli, Marikuppe, Gudemaranahalli, Kudulur, Chikkasolur, Solur,

Thubarapalya, Kalyanapura, Somedevahalli, Thattakere, Goruru, Lingenahalli, Ramanahalli, Uddanadahalli and Byadaranahalli. The estimated cost of this project is

Rs 4,500 crores. The total land required here for the township is 12,525 acres.
Nandagudi Township
This is the biggest among all township planned by the BMRDA. Nandagudi falls in Hosakote taluk and is located at a distance of 50 km from the city. The land

required here is 18,507 of which government owns only 3,953 acres apart form 792 acres of Kharab land. The township would spread across 36 villages including

Tharabahallu, Beerahalli, Dimbahalli, K Sathyavari, Banahalli, T Agrahara, M Hosahalli, Oballi, Ittasandra among others.
