BDA, MUDA can do it: Jayakumar

MYSORE , DHNS : Thecontroversial Bangalore-Mysore Infra structure Corridor (BMIC) project can be implemented jointlyby Bangalore Develop ment Authority andMysore Urban Devel opment Authority(MUDA), Housing Min ister D T Jayakumarannounced on Thurs day . “It is BDA that has implemented mega projects like the Outer Ring Road, and it hasnow taken up Periph eral Ring Road project.The Authority can implement the road proj ect under BMIC in an efficient manner,” he said.

“The project pro moter NICE is a boguscompany. It is schem ing to usurp gullible farmers’ land...

It (company) has been floated solely for thisreason,” Mr Jayaku mar alleged.

He, however, soughtto clarify that the gov ernment is not against formation of roads.

“But it is not necessary that the road should bedone only by NICE. Urban development authorities can do a bet ter job,” he added.

He alleged that NICE has mortgaged land belonging to farmers for Rs 150 crores. Though only2,300 acres land is required, NICE has ac quired over 29,000 acres, he charged.
