Auto owners told to re-calibrate meters

The Regional Transport Authority, Bangalore Urban District, has instructed autorickshaw owners to re-calibrate their meters to the new fares. In a release from the Regional Transport Authority the fares were revised on March 15, 2006 and the stipulated three months for switching over to re-calibrated fares expires on June 14. Therefore, all the autorickshaw owners have to run on re-calibrated meters, the release said.

The Regional Transport Authority has also said that all the autorickshaw drivers in Bangalore city will have to display the particulars of their driving licence particulars in the vehicle. And any violation of the display condition of the permit is liable for a minimum fine of Rs 2,000.
