Vehicular movement affected on many roads
BANGALORE: Heavy rains that lashed Bangalore on Tuesday evening caused inconvenience to the people, particularly those returning home from work.
As roads were flooded with water and vehicular movement was slow, traffic was affected in the central parts of the city and on the busy Hosur Road.
Traffic snarls were reported from Ambedkar Veedhi, Residency Road, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Bhagwan Mahaveer Marg, Richmond Road, Kasturba Road, Airport Road, Cox Town and Vittal Mallya Road.
Vehicular traffic came to a halt for nearly an hour on Hosur Road and this affected vehicular movement in the surrounding areas.
According to Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) authorities, branches of trees fell on the roads at 2nd Stage HAL; 13th Main Road, Wilson Garden; Residency Road; Infantry Road; New Thippasandra; Kasturba Road and Vittal Mallya Road. The emergency staff of the BMP removed the branches and cleared the roads.
A team, under the supervision of BMP's Deputy Commissioner (East) N. Jayaram, pumped out the water that had collected on the roads in Mahatma Gandhi Road, Airport Road, Cox Town and near Mallya Hospital.
As construction material had been dumped into the storm water drain, water gushed into houses in Padmanabhanagar ward.
The BMP staff cleared the drain.
The BMP has said that the public can contact its 24-hour service control rooms for assistance: Head Office Control Room, Ph,. 22221188, South Control Room, Ph.: 26566362, East Control Room, Ph. 22975803 and West Control Room, Ph.: 23341692.
