Bangalore, the first City to get power supply in the country, is all set to have another “first to its credit in the energy sector -- not just in the country, but in the South Asian region itself.
The foundation stone for the Rs 40-crore Lights Museum and Energy Centre, said to be the first of its kind in South Asia, was laid in Hoody, located on the outskirts of Bangalore on Monday by Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.
The energy centre, which is being set up on a 8-acre land to mark the 100 years of power supply to the garden city, will have state-of-the-art research facilities for all kinds of lighting systems. Emphasis will be on energy efficient lighting, KPTCL CMD Bharatlal Meena told reporters.
