Hi-tech convention centre soon

Hi-tech convention centre soon
The Times of India

Bangalore: All the major metros — Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai — have it, and now it is Bangalore’s turn. Shortly, the city will have a convention centre of international standards which can host 15-20 meetings simultaneously.

Chief minister Kumaraswamy announced this at the annual Kempe Gowda Day celebrations held at the BMP on Tuesday. And aptly, the convention centre will be named after the founder of Bangalore city, Kempe Gowda.

Kumaraswamy made this announcement after coalition partner BJP’s Ananth Kumar and Kanakapura MP Tejaswini Sriramesh made a plea that Knowledge Capital Bangalore did not have a single international convention centre, despite heads of states from various countries visiting the place.

“I will meet officials and this convention centre will be bigger than the ones in other cities,’’ the CM said, adding that the venue would be decided shortly.

In keeping with the spirit of Kempe Gowda Day, Kumaraswamy recalled that Kempe Gowda had originally marked four towers as Bangalore’s boundary but the city has grown leaps and bounds. “Along with the growth, problems of the city have also grown manifold. People from other cities have settled down here, using and misusing the resources and then blaming the administration here. I want to tell them, don’t mistake our nice attitude for vulnerability.’’
