Chief Minister HD Kumaaraswamy said he worries when it rains in Bangalore, though people have happy association with the monsoon.

Speaking at a programme organised by The Bangalore City Institute to felicitate him at Chamrajpet on Tuesday, the CM said he hopes that the flood related tragedies that occurred last year should not repeat this time.

“I have told the officials to improve the condition of the drains in Bangalore, although people mostly complain only about the state of roads to me”, Kumaaraswamy said. The time frame for upkeep of drains is three months, he added.

The chief minister recalled that he has been greeted with rains during the last one week which people foretell is an auspicious sign - at the Lakkundi Utsav in Uttara Karnataka and Gadinada Utsav in Belgaum and on Tuesday, during the Kempegowda Day celebrations in Bangalore. “I am happy with the rain only if monsoon does not bring in deaths or destruction”, he concluded.
