The unscheduled disruptions in select areas will vary from 30 minutes to 45 minutes

Bangalore: Brace yourself for the summer. Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd. (BESCOM) has announced there will be load shedding (unscheduled power interruptions) for periods varying from 30 minutes to 45 minutes in select areas in the city.

This is due to the increase in load on the distribution network and also transmission system constraints, a BESCOM spokesperson said. Power shutdown will mostly be between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. and again between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

"During the warmer months, there is more use of fans and air conditioners and added to the normal use of other electrical appliances the load goes up during the peak periods. The increase in power use may be upwards of 25 per cent during April-May and load shedding will continue during this period also,'' he explained.

Under the Austin Town station, the areas affected are Sampangirama Nagar, JC Road, Mission Road, part of Lalbagh Road, part of Haines Road, Domlur, Vivek Nagar, part of Richmond Road, Jogupalya, Austin Town, Ashok Nagar, Residency Road, Victoria Road, Shantinagar, Neelasandra and Brigade Road.

Adugodi station: Adugodi, Central Silk Board area, Bannerghatta Road, Wilson Garden, Vinayaka Nagar, Hosur Road, part of Mavalli, Sudhamanagar, Kidwai Hospital, Lakkasandra, KH Road and surrounding areas.

The areas covered under NIMHANS station are Madivala, BTM Layout, Rupena Agrahara, Byrasandra, Jayanagar 1st and 2nd blocks and Bannerghatta Road.

The areas fed by Koramangala station are Koramangala 1st to 8th blocks, National Games Village, Audugodi Police Quarters and surrounding parts.

The areas affected under Banaswadi station are Banaswadi Layout, HRBR Layout, Hennur Road, OMBR Layout, Thanisandra Layout, part of HBR Layout, Babusapalya and Govidapura.

Other areas to be affected by load shedding are HSR Layout, Hosur Road, Mangammanapalya, Outer Ring Road, Sarjapura Road, Bommanahali, Jakkasandra, Kaikondanahali and Bellandur.
