Bangalore: It was one interface where citizens could put a face to words like ‘BMP’ and ‘civic authorities’, and also voice their grievances.

On Monday, when the BMP held its second leg of listening to public grievances, 487 petitions from citizens were accepted.
Here’s one complaint that officials had and yet did not have an answer to — a resident of Shantinagar, Pinto, complained that even with a short spell of rain, water comes gushing into his house. Officials said: “The entire road and that area is low-lying, what can we do?’’

In the West division comprising Rajajinagar, Gayatrinagar, Gandhinagar and Malleswaram, assistant revenue offices were packed with citizens complaining about neighbours violating bylaws and causing inconvenience. In the South division, Binnypet was flooded with complaints of land misuse, lack of occupancy certificates, possession certificates and sale deeds.

At Mayo Hall, mayor Mumtaz Begum heard grievances pertaining to health, road repairs, asphalting and cleanliness.
The third phase of public hearings will be held on Wednesday at Mahalakshmipuram, Sanjaynagar, JJR Nagar, Hombegowdanagar, Koramangala, Jayamahal, at 9 am.
