THE Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will issue allotment letters to the remaining site allotees of the Arkavathi Layout by the end of May .

After getting a go-ahead from the High Court for for m i n g the layout in December 2005, the BDA made allotments of more than 2,000 sites covering all dimensions in 14 of the 22 packages in areas that were free from litigation.

As per Court directions, the BDA has completed hearing the objections from 556 land owners, who had objected to the acquisition of their properties.

Following this, a team of officials have been inspecting the disputed properties and conducting Mahjars.

As regards acquiring properties in the Arkavathi Layout, which existed before the issuance of preliminary notification for land acquisition, the official said, "W e will go strictly as per the High Court orders. As far as possible, we will try to protect the properties and integrate them in the layout. No structure will be touched unless they come in the way of our road network." Of the 2,750 acres of land notified for developing the Arkavathi Layout, nearly 748 acres are still under litigation.

Of the 1,420 land owners, a majority are revenue site owners who want their lands to be excluded from the acquisition proceedings.

"W e will look into the request of revenue site owners about completing the process of general allotments," he added.

The final hearing on Arkavathi would come up in the Supreme Court on July 16. B Bo ow wr ri in ng g H Ho os sp pi it ta al l r ra at te ed d Meanwhile, sources said the Bowring Hospital was ready . The BDA is awaiting a date from Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for inauguration.
