Bangaloreans will have to wait longer for the firstever inspection of the City by the new Chief Minister H D K umaraswamy . His planned inspection on Friday has been postponed.

Earlier , the CM had pointed out that he would be primarily visiting CMC areas with special attention being given to Puttenahalli, an area that had been affected the most during the previous monsoons.

It may be recalled that former chief minister N Dharam Singh had also visited CMC areas and promised to release funds for providing better amenities.

Bangalore City Corporation (BCC) Commissioner K Jothiramalingam, his staff and officials of the Karnataka Land Army Corporation (KLAC) undertook an inspection to keep themselves updated about the status of ongoing works.

The officials inspected areas like Indiranagar 80 ft Road, Airport Road, Wind T unnel Road, Jeevanbhimanagar and Ulsoor .

According to sources, the KLAC had been directed to take up civil works in the nights to ensure that motorists in busy areas like Ulsoor , Indiranagar and Airport Road were not inconvenienced by the move.

The BCC has released Rs 24 crore as on March 7 to KLAC, the sources revealed. The commissioner had refused to release funds in advance to KLAC until the agreement was signed between them, the sources said.

lThe BCC will conduct a drive to clear footpath encroachments between March 14 and 17 with the suppor t of the local police.

lApparently , many people have encroached upon newly constructed footpaths on the sides of the busy Airpor t and Jeevanbhimanagar Roads. This had been affecting the free movement of pedestrians, sources said.

lThe BCC has come up with the idea of roping in public par ticipation to check unauthorised road cutting by BWSSB and BESCOM personnel. "The public can inform BCC authorities if they come across people digging roads without seeking permission," the sources said.
