Waste disposal: BMP to address legal constraints
Deccan Herald

The BMP will seek to address the legal constraints hindering the progress of works at its upcoming scientific waste disposal site in Mavallipura at the earliest, Mr M Muniraju Chairman, Standing Committee on Health, said on Wednesday.

On an inspection tour of the allotted 100 acres site at Mavallipura, Mr Muniraju and his team of fellow members updated themselves over the land dispute, where a local land owner has staked claim to 28 acres of the area. Other issues such as the lack of an approach road to the waste disposal site and the environmental damage and pollution caused by the intermediate dumping arrangements made at the private land located nearby, were also taken note of. The work on the Rs 20 crore project was started in January 2005. About Rs 10.54 crore has been reportedly spent on the works so far.
