BMTC’s Coritoba model bus grabbed eyeballs on the roads during its maiden journey to the City’s tourist hotspots on Wednesday. The splendid-looking blue and white bus, carrying twelve passengers, was flagged off at 9 am from the Kempegowda bus terminal.

The tour covered all major landmarks including Cubbon Park, Lal Bagh, Tipu Sultan’s Palace and Iskcon temple. BMTC sources said depending on the response, the Bannerghatta National Park and a trip to Wonder La Amusement Park might be added to the tour.

The BMTC is planning to introduce boards and posters on major bus stops such as Shivajinagar, Jayanagar, Domlur, Shanthinagar, Yeshwantpur and Malleswaram, to promote the 12 metre bus, that boasts of extra-wide seats, 13 televisions and a refrigerator. The tickets are priced at Rs 250 for silver class and Rs 350 for gold class.

The transport corporation will outsource marketing of the ‘Bangalore Rounds’ and tenders are likely to be called for soon, said Mr Khan, Assistant Traffic Manager, BMTC. “The operations and services will be managed by the BMTC, but ticketing will be handled by the outsourced tourist operators,” he added.
